Diego Hedez (Diego Miguel Hernández González) is a Cuban trumpeter and composer known for blending Afro-Cuban traditions with jazz. He began studying music at a young age and later trained at Cuba’s National School of Arts (ENA), where mentors introduced him to bebop and Cuban rumba. Hedez performed with leading Cuban ensembles and international artists, building a reputation in Havana’s jazz scene. His debut album Distante highlights his compositional voice in Latin jazz. After a 2022 residency in Italy, he moved to New Jersey, collaborating with avant-garde musicians and continuing to explore free improvisation and contemporary jazz.
