Eric Kalb
Southpaw Eric Kalb is a Brooklyn-based drummer known for his deep R&B groove and explosive rock edge. Praised by Jazz Times for his “energetic and exhilarating style,” Kalb has spent three decades performing and recording with artists including Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Charlie Hunter, The Impressions, John Scofield, and Dr. Lonnie Smith. A Long Island native, he discovered his passion early, later studying at Berklee College of Music before launching the funk-rock band Deep Banana Blackout. Kalb has also recorded for major films such as American Gangster. In 2012, he performed in a Kennedy Center tribute to Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On, alongside John Legend and the National Symphony Orchestra.
