Eric McGarry is a Philadelphia-based saxophonist and composer whose primary creative outlet, the Eric McGarry Quintet, showcases his original compositions. Blending modern jazz sensibilities with lyrical storytelling, the group performs regularly at venues such as Chris’ Jazz Café, where McGarry hosted the weekly Friday night jam sessions in 2022. He has also been featured at the Philadelphia Free Library and Wilmington’s Clifford Brown Year Round series, highlighting new and creative voices in jazz. McGarry released his debut album, As I Am, As You Were, on January 27, 2023. The recording received positive reviews, including 4 out of 5 stars from All About Jazz, and has been featured on local radio stations, establishing him as an emerging voice on the regional jazz scene.
