DESCRIPTION:The John Byrne Band is led by Dublin native and Philadelphia–based songwriter John Byrne\, whose music bridges the emotional and musical traditions of Ireland and America. The band’s 2011 debut After the Wake earned critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic\, introducing Byrne’s evocative songwriting and roots-driven sound. Drawing inspiration from artists as diverse as Tom Waits and Planxty\, Byrne blends Americana grit with Celtic folk storytelling. In early 2013\, the band released Celtic/Folk\, a collection of traditional Irish and American tunes that reached No. 36 on the FolkDJ Charts in May 2015. Their third album\, The Immigrant and the Orphan (2015)\, returned to Byrne’s original material and debuted at No. 40 on the FolkDJ Charts. Praised for its honesty\, emotional depth\, and quiet power\, the album cemented the band’s reputation for deeply moving\, soul-stirring music.
