Alex Owen is a New York City–based trumpeter, bandleader, educator, and specialist in traditional jazz. After studying at Connecticut College and spending seven years performing professionally in New Orleans, he founded the Messy Cookers Jazz Band and became a prominent figure in the city’s jazz scene. Now based in New York, Owen leads his own ensembles, performs with leading traditional jazz artists, and maintains an active teaching career. His work as a performer, recording artist, and educator has brought him to audiences and students across the United States.
